Covishield Vaccine: The Central Government has said that the decision to change the time interval between two doses of Covishield from 6-8 weeks to 12 to 16 weeks is based on scientific evidence and facts. The government had said on May 13 that it had done so by accepting the recommendations of the ‘Covid-19 Working Group’. National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization Chairman NK Arora also clarified on Tuesday. The ministry said in a statement that the COVID-19 Working Group has agreed to extend the time between the two doses based on the availability of real-life evidence, particularly from the UK. However, the interval between two doses of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin was not change. The National Expert Group on Covid-19 Vaccine Administration (NEGVAC) accepted these recommendations of the working group on 12 May. NEGGVAC is headed by NITI Aayog member VK Paul.
