Mercedes-Benz has officially taken the wraps off its new luxury sedan car, the 2022 C-Class. The company is preparing to launch the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class in the Indian market on May 10. To be called the Baby S-Class, the new C-Class will be manufactured at the German carmaker’s Chakan plant near Pune. Mercedes has already started booking the new C-Class. Post launch, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class will be made available in three variants – C200, C220d and the top-end C300d. The model will be available online as well as under Mercedes’ ‘Retail of the Future’ program.
More luxury features.
The luxury features have been enhanced in the C-Class, which will bring it closer to the E-Class and the top-of-the-line S-Class. Mercedes hopes that its newly updated sedan will find more buyers than ever before. When launched, the new C-Class will compete with cars like the Volvo S60, BMW 3 Series and the Audi A4.
The fifth generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class will be launched in three variants. That includes the C200 and C220d in addition to the top-of-the-line C300d. The luxury sedan will be powered by a new 1.5-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines. Both engines will get mild-hybrid technology and a 9-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
Engine and Speed.
The new petrol engine generates maximum power of 201 bhp and peak torque of 300 Nm. While the diesel engine generates power of 197 bhp and maximum torque of 440 Nm. The 2.0-litre diesel engine in the C300d range produces 261 bhp and 550 Nm. Mercedes claims that the new C-Class can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.3 seconds. While the top-spec C300d can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.7 seconds.
The company has already started booking for the new 2022 Mercedes Benz C-Class. Bookings are open for all potential buyers from 1st May. The booking amount for the latest Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been kept at Rs.50,000.
Large in size.
The new C-Class gets several design updates. These include sleek LED headlights with integrated DRLs, a new grille and a new split LED taillight. This sedan will get 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels. Mercedes says that the new C-Class is bigger in size than its previous model. It now gets a 25 mm longer wheelbase, which gives more room for the passengers.
Mercedes will offer the C300d with three exterior paint schemes which include Manufacture Opalite White, Cavansite Blue and Obsidian Black. The lower two variants of the C-Class will get three more color options in Celestine Grey, Mojave Silver and Hi-Tech Silver.
You will get many features.
The interiors of the new C-Class will also get many updates. The cabin will get three color theme options which include Macchiato Beige and Sienna Brown and Black with wood trim or metal trim. At the center of the dashboard is an 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest MBUX system and a 2.3-inch full-digital instrument cluster. Like the S-Class, the infotainment screen features a biometric scanner for users to save their profiles along with a fingerprint scanner. It comes with features like redesigned air vents, dual-zone climate control, armrests for rear passengers, panoramic sunroof and wireless charging.
An important addition to the sedan portfolio.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class (Mercedes-Benz C-Class) is positioned above the A-Class Limousine (A-Class Limousine). But the company’s sedan comes under the extremely popular E-Class in the portfolio. In recent times, Germans have emphasized the popularity of both their sedans and SUVs, and both have performed quite well.
The competition escalated.
In recent times, the Mercedes C-Class has been facing tough competition from its main rival, the BMW 3-Series. The launch of the 3 Series Gran Limousine has brought the sedan closer to the 5 Series. And this is something that Mercedes is also hoping to do with the latest C-Class, to move the ‘Baby S’ closer to the company’s other more expensive models in the luxury sedan segment.
