Pathaan, one of the most anticipated Hindi films of the year, expected to have a strong box office debut based on advanced ticket sales.
Fans of Shah Rukh Khan appear unfazed by the film’s controversy and are making plans to see their favorite actor on the big screen on the first day.
Pathaan’s Hindi and Telugu versions have sold the most tickets, and the film has already grossed Rs 14.66 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The NCR region contributes Rs 1.79 crore, while Mumbai contributes Rs 1.74 crore.
Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kolkata are also significant contributors to the preliminary sales figures. According to Bollywood Hungama, Pathaan will earn around Rs 40 crore on day one, trailing Shah Rukh’s biggest debut, Happy New Year.
Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra grossed Rs 19.66 crore in advance sales last year. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, the third-biggest Bollywood blockbuster of 2022, made Rs 6.55 crore from bookings, while Laal Singh Chaddha made Rs 5.52 crore. Pathaan has six days to catch up to Brahmastra.
The film marks Shah Rukh’s return to starring roles after a four-year absence. Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand, is a spy thriller starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.

On Friday, Ashish Saksena, COO of Cinemas, BookMyShow, shared that the action-thriller has already sold 400,000 tickets in advance sales on the online ticketing platform in less than 36 hours of tickets going live.
He said, “The response across India has been phenomenal with Hyderabad, Kolkata, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Pune, Lucknow, and Chennai leading the charge on ticket sales. South India has been particularly impressive showcasing an upward trajectory with Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru contributing 26% of the overall advance sales so far.
With more screens set to open for advance sales over the weekend, we confident that Pathaan set to take the box office by storm.”
The film scheduled to hit the theaters on January 25.
