Siya: A small-town girl decides to fight for justice.

Girl Siya Manish Mundra

Director Manish Mundra discusses going back to his origins in the village to present the heartbreaking narrative of a girl based on actual cases in advance of the premiere of Siya.

Manish Mundra is a supporter of broadway production. The CEO of a petrochemical company from Deoghar, Jharkhand, has been pursuing his passion for film as a vehicle for social change since childhood. After creating masterpieces like Aankhon Dekhi, Masaan, and Newton, Mundra has transitioned from producer to director with the harrowing story of Siya, a village girl who resists her strong tormentor.
The desire to tell true stories, according to Mundra, drove him to lead the film. It releases next week and stars Pooja Pandey in the starring role.
One could also detect hints of the Hathras case in Siya’s plot, which appears to be influenced by the Unnao rape case.
Mundra says, “I’ve been researching several significant events and case studies that made headlines during the past three to four years. I felt something when I looked at their specifics. I appreciate Vinod Kapri (a journalist and filmmaker) for reading through many early news articles about the instances. We attempted to connect the dots between other situations, and the result was this narrative, which, as far as I can tell, is the climax of at least six other tales we followed.”
It drains you emotionally and physically to play this role and this character, as Pooja Pandey said when discussing her performance in Siya. The script affected me, and I knew this tale needed to be shared. Although the movie is set in India, according to her co-star Vineet Kumar Singh, the issue it addresses is “global.”

IPS Officer Arun Bothra also shared his views on the trailler of film Siya on Twitter

Women’s Right Activist Yogita Bhayana also expressed her opinion and supported this film with her Tweet.

Film Siya is releasing on 15th September.
