Stock Market : With the help of buying in heavyweight stocks, the stock market has reached new record levels today. In Wednesday’s trade, the Sensex crossed 58750 and the Nifty crossed the level of 17500 for the first time. In today’s business, the biggest gains are being seen in public sector banks, although the rise in the IT sector giants has contributed to the rise of the major index. Today Sensex closed at 58723 level with a gain of 476 points and Nifty gained 139 points to close at 17519 level, both of which have been the highest closing of the index so far.
Market reached new record level.
The stock market saw an upward trend from the beginning in Wednesday’s trading. The gains in the market got stronger with the trading. During the day, the Sensex touched a day’s high of 58,777.06 and the Nifty touched a day’s high of 17,532.70, both of which have been the highest levels of the major index ever. The market price of BSE also reached new record levels during trading, on the basis of today’s closing level, the total market value of all the companies listed on BSE is at the level of Rs 259.68 lakh crore.
How did the stock and sector perform?
Today the biggest increase has seen in public sector banks. Sector indices closed with a gain of 2.83 per cent. Although the IT sector has contributed the most to the gains of the major index, today the sector index closed with a gain of 1.82 per cent. Auto sector index has gained 0.86 percent, metal sector index has gained 0.84 percent, private sector bank index has gained 0.62 percent. Consumer durables rose 0.99 percent, oil and gas sector index rose 0.85 percent, pharma sector 0.53 percent and banking sector 0.65 percent. On the other hand, after yesterday’s rally, the media sector index saw a fall of 1.55 percent today.
Which stock was up and where did the loss happen?
Of the 50 stocks included in the Nifty, 35 stocks closed with gains. Out of this, 9 stocks have gained more than 2 percent. The biggest gainers were NTPC 7.46 percent, Bharti Airtel 4.8 percent, Coal India 3.98 percent, ONGC 3.87 percent and Titan 3.03 percent to close. On the other hand, all the falling Nifty stocks have lost less than one percent, Tata Consumer 0.95 percent, Nestle India 0.55 percent, Grasim 0.49 percent, BPCL 0.38 percent, among the biggest losers.
