74th Republic Day 2023 Parade: President Droupadi Murmu unfurled the national flag at Kartavya Path on Thursday to kick off the Republic Daycelebrations for the first time since taking office last year.
The traditional unfurling of the Tricolour was followed by the national anthem and a 21-gun salute. Notably, the 21 Gun Salute was fired with 105mm Indian Field Guns for the first time.
President Murmu joined by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as they left the Rashtrapati Bhavan for the Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path.
Sisi will be the chief guest at this year’s Republic Day celebrations, and a 120-member Egyptian contingent will also march on Kartavaya Path.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid solemn tributes to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial.
