Tokyo Olympics : The awards are presented by the President of India in formal ceremonies held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. A total of 128 Padma Awards are being presented this year. The javelin thrower, who won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, received the Padma Shri award from President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday. He was honored with this award in a program held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Tokyo Olympics : The awards are announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day.

These awards are given in the fields of various disciplines and activities like arts, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc. Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service. ‘Padma Bhushan’ is given for distinguished service of high order and ‘Padma Shri’ is given for distinguished service in any field. The awards are announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day.
