In 2020, WhatsApp will stop working on many smartphones. An updated in the FAQ section of the Facebook-owned messaging app. Many smartphones may not be able to run such apps, as the company will withdraw support for older versions of the OS from 1 February 2020.
According to the information provided on the WhatsApp FAQ section, Android phones run on Android 2.3.7 operating systems and iPhones running on iOS 8, and the lower system will not be able to support chatting apps from next year.
WhatsApp has also stated that these older versions of the Android and iOS operating systems. It’s cant able to create new accounts nor resume existing accounts after 1 February 2020.
Also, Facebook-owned instant messaging platform KaiOS will continue to run the app for select phones with 2.5.1+ OS, including JioPhone and JioPhone 2. Also, bad news for OS Windows users. WhatsApp has previously announced that it is withdrawing support for all Windows phones from 31 December 2019. So in the same month, Microsoft ended support for its Windows 10 Mobile OS. The company also said that the app might not be available in the Microsoft Store after 1 July 2019.
WhatsApp also reported that it is deciding to phase out WhatsApp support for some Android phones and iPhones soon.
